I lost my shadow in a desert hurricane
running to a peak on which I never came,
it disappeared behind my back
leaving me naked and deaf.
In all the sand which stuffed my ears
I couldn’t hear the noise it made
being ripped of my feet
and flown away.

Sixteen years passed,
behind seven hills and no lakes
I’m still searching for the darker me
I’m twice as old – I shouldn’t be.
If I found it now,
it wouldn’t help me anymore,
hunting made me turn in to a crawler.

Chanting vacant melodies
won’t bring me back my loss and sanity.
Shadow’s gone and I’m stuck with ugly frippery,
there’s a giant elephant
walking over my heart.

I found my skin in a desert hurricane
and I lost it when I came too near.
I’m still not sure,
was it pride or was it fear.
If I grabbed it then it wouldn’t bring my glory back,
hoping made me inherently blunt.

Pleasing lies and wishful words
define my mind as I try to get it back
dancing to forgotten tunes
and whispering old bookish spells
drawing sketches in the sand
just to ease my impish game;
jealous public’s keeping me lorn
I’m playing a game that I’ve already lost
so I’ll let my shadow go
and save me from all future tosh.

Combining puzzles that fell of off me
is what I’ve been sentenced to do,
since I lost my shadow and my ears.
If I stuck it back it wouldn’t help me anymore
dying’s making me hopelessly bored.
